A major surprise sprung!
Charlotte and Mike thought the AGM on 25 March would be routine, but John Martyn and John Souter, with support from everyone except the two innocents, had other ideas. Mike started to conduct the group 40 years ago, and John & John planned to mark the anniversary, although the exact date is now a mystery. Chairman Tony Parkinson brought the AGM to a close by presenting this cup and cake on behalf of the members.
The Madding Crowd are wonderful and a joy to be with. Thank you everyone.

John Souter, well-known locally as a sculptor, made this beautiful loving cup. Thank you, John, it’s a treasure.

John Martyn had this superb cake made by a skilled friend. Rather less durable than the loving cup - naturally with the presentation followed immediately by the refreshment break, the lovely moist jam sponge and icing were enjoyed by us all. We have kept the figures, which capture our costumes in amazing detail. The cake was also welcomed by Mike’s Monday IBM choir, and by the script committee on Monday evening. Many thanks to John, and please pass on our thanks and congratulations to the maker.
